Celebration of Black History Month – Citizens for Racial Amity Now!

February 24 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

CELEBRATION OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH – Citizens for Racial Amity Now!
The Citizens for Racial Amity Now! will celebrate Black History Month in 2019 with the presentation and dialogue of a new film prepared for PBS by Dr. William Smith and Prof Richard Thomas: ‘AN AMERICAN STORY: Race Amity and The Other Tradition’ . The perspective of The Other Tradition is that in America’s racial history, the dominant tradition of racism, has always had a parallel moral counterweight that promotes equity, respect, and social justice. This moral counterweight holds at its core humanistic and spiritual values enacted by amity and close cross-racial/cross-cultural collaboration which in contrast to racism is The Other Tradition.
For the Event, we invite all those in the Greater Amherst area and like-minded organizations to join us in dialogue and action to address our country’s most vital and challenging issue, racial and cultural prejudice, building on the foundation presented by ‘The Other Tradition.’

The BHM event will take place on 24 February from 2:00 – 4:00pm at the Woodbury Room, Jones Library, Amherst, MA.

The event is organized by Citizens for Race Amity Now!
