Second Annual Community Summit
November 18 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pmFree
Last November 60 leaders came together with the intention of building connections among organizers from a range of social justice groups. In particular, we were invited to explore ways to effectively address white supremacy in our work, our communities and our region.
We were invited to build the structures we will need to carry this work into the future. There was great energy in the room and a desire to get to know each other and to figure out how we could work in greater solidarity in order to amplify the work of each of our organizations.
Out of that gathering emerged a committee of people from different groups who agreed to help organize a second Community Summit. This Community Summit Planning Group is honoring feedback from last year’s summit by providing childcare, transportation, outreach to additional groups and more time for organizers from different groups to get to know each other.
We will again be offering food to share and hope to create a space in which organizers and member-leaders from many different social justice groups can continue to deepen our unity and solidarity, to weave together our community, and to strengthen our collective power in the face of the challenges that each of our organizations confronts on a daily basis. We recognize that we don’t all agree on everything and hope to begin to create spaces that will allow for full exploration of our many points of view.
In solidarity and with respect,
