$10 Million Per House: Nuclear Weapons, Social Justice and Environmentalism
April 13, 2019 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pmFree
Nuclear weapons are sucking money, brainpower, and resources from building healthier and more sustainable communities. They poison land, water, animals, and humans, with disproportionate effects on women and indigenous people. They are the most inhumane, indiscriminate, and immoral weapons ever created. Far from making us “safe,” nuclear weapons put our lives, our economy, our environment and our climate at unthinkable risk — whether the weapons are used on purpose or by accident. But there’s GOOD NEWS, and every social justice and environmental activist should be aware of it. The 2017 International Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons is the game-changer we’ve been waiting for. Learn how you, your group, your city, your state can use divestment and boycotts to put powerful pressure on nuclear weapons manufacturers, corporations that finance them, and the federal government. Together we can free up money to support green technologies and human services, and literally save the world at the same time.
