o share your thoughts
o express your Own Story through song, dance, theater, poetry, or other channels — through Open Mic
o watch others share their stories
o learn about exciting innovations and practices across New Zealand from the group collective, Arts Access Aotearoa!
After traveling on a Network of Ensemble Theaters (NETTEN) Travel Grant this past fall, Ezzell joins with The Rainbow Players to discuss the exciting ways that we can implement many of their methods in our Valley, without spending a penny! Come view video clips from some key performing arts troupes in New Zealand: Jolt Dance, A Different Light, Touch Compass, Interact, and many others!
We began Open Mic Cabarets over 20 years ago in 1996 as the first group in the Pioneer Valley and Western Massachusetts to host such an open creative forum. The Rainbow Players Improv Troupe grew from that monthly event, into a performance troupe that has taken original works to international stages (Ireland & the UK) as well as to national forums (Chicago, Omaha & across MA).
Since 1996, other groups have grown up across the valley that offer the arts in diverse ways. This is EXCITING for us all to join together and for the public to experience people who live with a label of disability, outside the box of “limited expectations.” By encouraging and exploring artistic expression for all people regardless of “ability,” the world becomes a richer place! Let’s grow here into a MORE Inclusive and Diverse community of Artists!
This forum (along with one on Nov. 30th will be the beginning of exciting conversations and innovations among artists, performing arts organizations, museums, venues, directors and teachers of the arts! Please make sure you place your voice into the mix!
This program is funded in part through the support of The Network of Ensemble Theaters, NETTEN Travel Grant Program.
