The National Council to Reestablish the National Union of the Homeless was formed during the Poor People’s Campaign’s Poor People’s Moral Action Congress, June 17-19, 2019 convened by the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for a Moral Revival. At that same meeting they made a call for preparation in the launching and carrying out of a Winter Offensive during the upcoming Christmas Season. The winter season covers a period of the highest celebration and custom in the religious culture and civic life of especially the United States.
This is a significant moment in history like never before. The poor, jobless, sick and suffering are on the verge of losing their homes, apartments, jobs and in some cases their lives in the midst of a pandemic. In the richest country in the world, we are witnessing the rise of poverty and houseless encampments. While the few percent continue to profit off of the backs of misery, and continue to exploit the poor, black brown, and indigenous, we are fed up! We see the rich getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. Join this fusion building coalition! And share your message!
